Help & Features


Header Buttons

  • Sound: Audio initializes automatically on any interaction (click, touch, or key press). If sound doesn't work, use the failsafe button in Settings panel.
  • Debate Style: Select your format (AP, BP, etc.). This loads all speakers and default times.
  • Volume: Controls the bell sound level.
  • Lang: Switches between English and Korean.
  • Help: Opens this help window. (Shortcut: H)
  • Theme: Toggles Dark/Light mode. (Shortcut: D)
  • Presenter: Opens a large, clean timer in a new window for an external display. (Shortcut: P)
  • Mirror: Hides all controls on the main screen. Use this when mirroring your device to a display. Click the X button to exit.
  • Quick Timers: Shows/hides the extra timers (Cross-Ex, Prep, etc.). Icon has a slash when hidden.
  • Notes: Shows/hides the speaker notes panel. Icon has a slash when hidden. Lights up if the current speaker has notes.
  • Mute: Toggles all bell sounds on/off. (Shortcut: M)
  • Format Builder: Opens a visual editor to create and customize debate formats. Build formats with custom speakers, timing settings, and export/import capabilities.

Speaker Progress

  • Click: Selects a speaker without changing the order.
  • Double-click: Toggles a speaker active/inactive (greys them out and skips them).
  • Drag & Drop: Re-order the entire speaker flow.
  • Next/Previous: Moves to the next/previous speaker. (Shortcut: → / ←)

Main Timer Controls

  • Start/Pause (Play/Pause): Toggles the main timer. (Shortcut: Space)
  • Reset (Circular Arrow): Resets the current timer. (Shortcut: R)
  • Progress Bar: Click or drag on the progress bar to "scrub" the timer to any point.
  • Bell Icons (1, 2, Loop, Mute): Play bells manually or stop a continuous bell. (Shortcut: 1, 2)

Timer Logic

  • Substantive Speeches: Use Main, 1st Bell, 2nd Bell, Yellow/Red, and Grace times.
  • Bells ring at 1st Bell, 2nd Bell, and a double-bell rings at the end (0:00).
  • After 0:00, the Grace Period counts up, and the screen flashes.
  • After the grace period, a continuous bell rings until you press "Stop Bell" or "Reset".
  • Reply Speeches: Use the "Rebuttal" time and end with a double-bell.

Notes & Data

  • Notes are saved per-speaker, per-format (e.g., "AP - Prime Minister").
  • Export Notes: Saves a ".txt" file of all your notes, organized by format.
  • Import Notes: Merges notes from a `.json` file.
  • Clear All Notes: Deletes all saved notes (with confirmation).
  • Export Settings: Saves your "Custom" preset and all timer settings to a `.json` file.
  • Import Settings: Loads a `.json` file as your new "Custom" preset.
  • Format Builder: Create custom debate formats with a visual editor. Add speakers, configure timing settings, and export formats for sharing. Use "Load Current Format" to edit existing formats, or "Apply to Timer" to use your custom format.
